Cuckoo Clocks
Cuckoo clocks are somewhat whimsical with a cuckoo bird who sings the hour count, and sometimes a quick call on the half hour. Sometimes the cuckoo is accompanied by a quail. Modern cuckoo clocks often include a platform with dancers and music boxes to play a melody. Case designs include hunter and nature themes often adorned with animals, chalet style houses and railroad houses. Cuckoo clocks originated in the Black Forest area of Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
